21/12/12…is not the end…it’s the beginning!

This is surely one of the most amazing times to be on the planet right now and how are you experiencing the transition? For many years people have spoken of the ‘Great Shift’ which has been happening on the planet. There was a quantum leap in the Earth’s energy towards the end of 2007 and the energy on the planet has been increasing since then. I understand this as a shift in the vibration of the planet which many can feel. You may notice that things seem to happen more quickly and that ‘time’ feels different. That is all connected to this increase in the vibration of the planet. I have certainly seen this through my client’s experiences and in my personal life. We can create things and change things in our life more quickly than ever before. Remember change can be amazingly positive!

What’s the deal with the Mayan Calendar?

Many of my clients have been expressing fear regarding the end of the world and many point to the Mayan Calendar as proof of this. There is a galactic alignment on the 21st of December this year and this will be happening for the first time in 26,000 years. The Mayan Elders are angry that their predications have been taken into the wrong context. The point to remember here is that it is not the end of the world. Through the Galactic alignment it helps expand energy on the planet and we move into a new era. The world will begin a new phase where we will see moves towards equality and freedom for people. We have all seen these changes start to occur with uprisings in countries where the people have been suppressed. In this new energy era people will no longer tolerate being controlled.

Impacts of a Transition:

This is a time of intense change on the planet and unfortunately as with any transition, for example to a new job, new relationship, moving house, when you are in the transition it can be challenging! It can take quite a bit of energy, be tiring and be quite frightening at times. The world is going through this change right now. It is by no surprise that there may be earthquakes and other intense weather patterns. This is part of the process and will pass. If you think about the transitions you have been through in your own life, I’m sure you can remember when you were right in the change? It may have been difficult or frightening or at the very least you may have had an uneasy feeling as you transitioned. However, do you remember when you got through it and looked back? I’m sure you would have thought “that was a really challenging time, but now I’m here I’m so glad I made that change!” This is comparable to the shift pattern the planet is going through.

So try not to worry too much, and use this time and amazing energy to create changes in your own life!

I often hear during therapy numerous reasons people give for why they can’t do things, or rather why they have convinced themselves they can’t do things. I want to go through here some tips and tricks to help you get past this and stop holding yourself back, because in reality it is only you that allows yourself to be held back! Just take a minute and check what limitations you have placed on yourself? Phrases such as ‘I can’t do that!’, or ‘other people do that so well, but I couldn’t!’ are keys to areas of your life that you may be limiting yourself. So the first trick you need to do is to identify these areas. Then secondly just be curious and have a mental investigation into where you think these ideas may have come from? People don’t usually put these limitations on themselves…they come from the outside, and then we hold on to it as our own belief. It may have been a well-meaning parent or teacher? Just have a think and feel into who it may have been that influenced you as a child and through your teenage years? There may have been several people who influenced you and have added to the picture you still hold of what think you can and cannot do?

So why would people try and limit you?

Usually I hear similar stories of adults who had the best intentions for us when we were children and these memories can build a picture of who you think you are. Care takers of young children want to protect the child and will limit areas they feel they may fall down as a way to shield them. An example would be trying to discourage you from running a race, because they don’t want you to lose that race. But in reality life is about being in the race and running that race! There may be many ‘races’ or events that you were discouraged from entering or trying…then as adults we internalize this idea of not being able to do things.

How to get past this…

Try and feel into areas that you have held as a limitation…does this serve you any more?! The chances are no they do not! The trick is not to be angry at people who have placed their limitations on you…for fear you may be hurt or just because that was a limitation they had placed on them and they have passed it down. It’s time to let these go! That’s the great thing about life! You can make a choice right now, in this very moment as you read these words to let all limitations go…after all who do you really want to be in control of YOUR life and YOUR life choices?! Some out dated ideas you still hold from years ago or the real you? The you who used to play and jump and run as a child and not be afraid…that is who you really are…so why not get back to that? Take those well intentioned limits off…like an old coat you don’t need any more and jump into life! Yes you may fall and get a bruise now and again…but so what…live life to the full with no limits and those little bruises will always heal!

As we move into 2012 I think one of the key elements is learning to trust ourselves, completely and wholly with no room for doubt. As January skipped along, the energy continues to be strong and we are seeing wild weather patterns, political change and continuing financial instability. I think one of the most important things to do when we see these things in the press and on the television etc is to firstly take a breath, then to realize everything is in divine order and to as they say, stand behind the ‘short wall’. Have empathy for people who are being directly affected by the intense climate changes, but then for you yourself to come back to complete trust in self, keep breathing and knowing all is well and individuals choose all they experience on their soul level. So I think it’s important to keep coming back to your self. Focus on what you are doing and what you want to create for yourself for 2012. Have complete trust in yourself to bring your desires into reality in this realm.

So how do you trust yourself completely? I think breathing and feeling into your intuition is the most important aspect. Make decisions alone. Take time out, feel into what you truly want and then go for it! Don’t let others try and dissuade you! Come back to what you chose….get really in touch with your own intuition….as distinct from what you may be feeling from others or from the energies around you. To get to deep levels of true trust of self and alignment with your soul/ intuition start with little tests; start with easy ones! For example, feel into what you think the traffic will be like on your way to work tomorrow. If you drive in rush hour the chances are it will be busy! So feel into this….then when you are in that traffic, remind yourself what you felt intuitively the traffic would be like and reaffirm you were correct! Ah you got it right! Then start to feel into bigger things, such as do you feel you will see a particular friend at the weekend? Where do you feel you will go? Feel into it, guess….then see where they suggest…..practice this as often as you can….starting to trust your deep feelings…..this is something I have done over time….to get to deeper levels of trust of myself. It gets easier over time. I think we work multidimensionally and perhaps intuition taps into other levels we are working on?…..I think as intuition increases so does trust in self……well if you can’t trust yourself….who can you trust? Have fun with it!

Time for Change: Moving into New Psychology

Managing intense energy shifts

During my therapy work I am often faced with the question, when does feeling ‘spiritually high’ begin to be unsafe? This is a feeling described to me not just of a sense of happiness, but of an elated feeling, a sense of oneness with everything or a euphoric bliss like state. This is of course a wonderful state to be in however there is a line that can be crossed where those wonderful energies may be unsafe. The following article describes what is considered unsafe thinking and actions. I have included information here to help you remain grounded, if you find you start to feel or act in any of these ways.

I have based this information on my clinical experience and training. The information should be considered as guidelines only and not taken as medical advice.

Warning Signs

If you find you are putting yourself at risk in any of the following ways you may need to seek medical advice.

Neglecting the physical body?

Believing you don’t need to eat or drink

While you are in the physical body you need to make sure that you feed yourself a basic amount of nutrients and water each day. If you find that you really can’t face eating, then at least have a glass of fruit juice or milk to ensure that you receive some nutrients. If you find that you have not eaten for a couple of days, see your doctor for a meal substitute. Also if you find you are drinking excessive amounts of water this can be dangerous too; two to three liters of water per day is sufficient.

Believing you don’t need to sleep

If you find that you miss a full nights sleep and don’t catch this up the next day, or feel so energized and think you don’t need to sleep at all seek medical help. If you don’t sleep for two full nights you may need to take a sleeping tablet for a short time.

Hygiene

If you start to neglect your physical health and hygiene and believe you don’t need to care for your body you may need to seek assistance.

Putting yourself at risk?

A) Legally? If you find that you are breaking the law or acting in a manner which could get you arrested then you may need to take a step back and monitor your own behavior.

B) Sexually? Sleeping with lots of different people and not taking precautions.

C) Financially? Taking huge financial risks or wanting to sell your home/ possessions for hardly anything or purchasing many items you don’t need.

D) Emotionally? Ending a long term relationship suddenly for no reason, when everything has been going well.

What to do if you feel ‘too high’ ?

Avoid:

Stimulants caffeine, additives, colorants and preservatives in foods and drinks

Loud music (This will raise your vibration)

Intense yoga/ meditation sessions

Do not take:

Anti-depressants (these are designed to increase synaptic function and will increase your energy etc)

Stop smoking medications such as Zyban and Champix (these are anti-depressants)

Natural or herbal anti-depressants E.g. Hypericum (St Johns Wort)

Panadeine forte or other codeine based medications (If you require these medications, try and minimize the amount you take during intense energy times)

Illicit drugs such as marijuana

Hay fever medications should be minimized as they have stimulant properties

Also try and avoid making major decisions at this time, wait for the energy to balance then reconsider.

Things that may help:

Try and eat meat

Heavy proteins such as meat may assist you to feel more grounded. If you have been on a strict vegetarian or vegan diet for a while increase fish and meats into your diet gradually.

A Quick sleep

This works to lower your vibrational level and can ground the energies.

Stay in a quiet and calm environment

Avoid crowds and busy areas at this time and spend time alone if you need to.

Spend time in nature

Spend time outdoors in the fresh air daily. Walk barefoot on grass, sand or in water.

Continue to do ‘normal’ things

It may help you to feel grounded if you continue with your normal daily activities and routines.

Danger signs of delusional thinking:

If you find that you are doing any of the following seek immediate help.

Believing people are ‘out to get you’ or other extreme paranoia

Believing there is a political conspiracy only you know about

Considering maybe you are dead

Believing that you have to hurt someone and this is what you have to do for some other purpose or to save the planet

Believing you or others are possessed

Irrational correlations, e.g. “because my wife has her hair tied back today she’s out to kill me” or “if I pray facing my curtains every morning for ten minutes my cat won’t die”.

If you or someone you know start to think in any of these ways, go straight and get help. Also don’t try and argue with someone while they are in this state as they may be dangerous. If they are delusional, use any excuse you can to get them to a hospital then let the staff take over. Make sure they do not have any access to weapons and don’t let them drive. Also not to worry, people do not stay in this state for very long with the right help.

Charity C-L Parrish Defines Online Counseling

Online counseling is a recent form of therapy that has evolved over the last few years. Online counseling is a way for people to receive counseling over the internet. There are many people now offering different forms of online counseling. Usually there is a registration process and payments are received prior to the online counseling. The client would normally choose how often they would like to receive online counseling and when they would like to finish their course of online counseling.

Charity C-L Parrish Defines Online Counselor

An online counselor is someone who holds counseling sessions over the internet. When searching for an online counselor clients always need to check the credentials of their online counselor to ensure they are properly trained. There are many different standards of training to be an online counselor and different levels of training that an online counselor may have received. The highest level of online counselor would be a registered clinical psychologist. It is always recommended that potential clients check with the registration board of their online counselor to ensure they are properly qualified.

Charity C-L Parrish Defines Online Therapy

Online therapy is the process of accessing therapy services via the internet. The form the online therapy takes will vary depending on the therapist. The online therapy should be carried out by a properly trained and credentialed therapist. Some therapists specialize in certain areas or with certain techniques, while other therapists may adopt a holistic approach. The client should always check what type of online therapy is being offered and should consider if that particular online therapy is right for them.

Charity C-L Parrish Defines E-therapy

E-therapy is a new service being offered via the internet. E-therapy may be carried out by a counselor or psychologist from different specializations. E-therapy is a form of counseling over the internet with or without a webcam. The e-therapy may be carried out weekly or fortnightly depending on the clients need. When people access e-therapy they will embark on a course of therapy through internet sessions. The e-therapy should finish when both the client and therapist decide it is the correct time.

The process of internet therapy is similar to traditional therapy held in consulting rooms. Internet therapy is carried out by trained therapists over the internet. The internet therapy may be performed by someone with a counseling or psychology background. Internet therapy may incorporate many different forms of therapy and clients should always check the type of the internet therapy being offered and see if it feels like the correct form of internet therapy for them before paying the fee.

Internet counseling is an innovative new therapy allowing clients to receive counseling via the internet. With internet counseling, clients are able to receive a high standard of therapy with a credentialed counselor or psychologist. The same standards and ethics are used as if the client were in consulting rooms. The client may have the choice of internet counseling with or without a webcam. Internet counseling allows people with mobility or transport issues to access therapy easily.

A Real Internet Counselor

Charity C-L Parrish Is Counseling Patients Over The Internet Using Online Therapy
And Internet Counseling

The time for only having the opportunity to speak to a psychologist in their rooms, is coming to a close. For many this will always be a preferable option, but with the advent of the internet, web cams and programs such as Skype, there are now more new ways to seek out the therapy you choose.

At New Psychology® we are bringing this service to people. It is especially beneficial for people who have not been able to access traditional therapy in consulting rooms. For too long, there have been people who have ‘gone under the radar’ and have been forgotten. Generally psychologists have more clients waiting to see them than they are able to offer a service to. For many people not able to come into rooms they are not followed up, as we generally are not able to cope with referral demands.

Many people, who may have transport or mobility issues, are trapped at home with no support. There are also people who have such extreme levels of anxiety or social phobias they are not able to venture from their home; for these people virtual counseling offers an invaluable and much needed service. There are also people living in rural and remote areas all over the world who may not have a psychologist they can access for treatment- however they have the internet. For these people, Virtual Counseling offers an easy way to find treatment and for some people the first chance to get that much needed support that may have been lacking.

Rapid Change is Possible

The aim of psychologists is to assist clients to move towards a state of emotional health and well being as quickly as possible. Older forms of therapy, involved potentially many years of psychoanalysis and discussions of every experience the person had ever had. In the past, people would attend sessions every week or two for many years, often seeing minimal change.

With the modern therapeutic techniques, rapid change is possible. Most psychologists who practice today adopt the philosophy of trying to achieve the best results in the shortest time frame possible. This of course needs to be balanced carefully with the needs of the client. For some people you need to tread very slowly to start with if they are reluctant to enter into emotions and feelings they have suppressed for many years. With these people, you walk a steady path and try and encourage them to face those issues.

Online Therapy to Match the Clients Needs

Usually psychologist’s today are trained in numerous techniques and are able to match the therapy to the clients needs. There are still psychologists who practice in specialized areas only, such as ‘Gestalt Therapy’; this however may be too restrictive for the client. Certain types of therapy are only suited to certain types of people.

I am lucky that I received training in the basics of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and many other techniques which address the unconscious as well as the conscious. This allows me to work quickly with people to improve their psychological health, if they really want to be and feel well. This is moving psychology forward to enable rapid progress with treatment only expected to take a few weeks. I have seen this occur with the majority of my clients. Rapid and easily accessible therapy is the way of the future and virtual counseling is able to provide this service…

I look forward to meeting you in the virtual counseling world.
